Monday – Friday – 37.5 hours per week


Student Loans Company Limited (“SLC”) is a non-profit making Government-owned organisation set up in 1989 to provide loans and grants to students in universities and colleges in the UK. SLC is responsible for student support delivery in the UK.

We have an excellent opportunity for two Solicitors to join our Legal and Compliance team on a permanent basis.

The Solicitors will provide legal advice on the full suite of Legal & Compliance matters applicable to SLC, both strategic and operational; to the Board, Directors and Senior Managers under the direction of the Senior Manager: Legal & Compliance, thus helping to ensure that SLC operates within its regulatory framework and meets its statutory obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure adherence and compliance with all requirements of law, regulations, guidelines and best practice such that SLC achieves the highest standards of corporate governance.
  • To contribute towards the delivery of an ongoing programme of policy development and training for senior managers on Legal and Compliance matters and to raise levels of awareness across SLC while improving Governance.
  • To identify areas of weakness within the Company on compliance matters and initiate change initiatives with senior managers across the business.
  • To provide advice and support to all areas of the business including by way of example Repayments in relation to debt recovery and Procurement in relation to matters affecting suppliers etc
