And finally… common cents

Victorian pennies have sold for thousands at a North Yorkshire auction house.

And finally... common cents

Tennants Auctioneers’ in Leyburn recently held a Coins, Tokens and Banknotes Sale, with the highlight being the Brian Boyce Collection of Victorian Pennies.

Put together over a period of 25 years, the collection was a near-comprehensive representation of dates in the Victorian penny series.

The collection included an 1896 ‘Bun head’ type penny in near uncirculated condition that surpassed the top estimate, selling for £2,200.

Another penny from 1841 sold for £400, The Northern Echo reports.
