A police officer who enjoys watching esports while off duty made an unexpected arrest after recognising a top gamer as a wanted criminal.
The officer was spending his downtime playing popular multiplayer game League of Legends (LoL) in an internet café with friends in his city of Chongqing in southwest China.
When the café announced that some of the top-ranked players on China’s oldest LoL server would soon begin playing, he went over to watch, Chinese outlet Biajihao reports.
He immediately recognised one of the elite players as a man wanted for assault and promptly arrested him – after his match was over.
