Bank of Scotland tops number of complaints to financial ombudsman in first half of 2019

There were more complaints about Bank of Scotland to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) in the first half of the year than any other bank, according to new figures.

There were 16,179 new complaints about Bank of Scotland between January and June 2019, down from 19,538 new complaints in the second half of last year.

Most of the complaints (12,995) concerned PPI, but there were 705 complaints in the mortgage and home finance category, more than for any other bank or financial institution.

Overall, the latest business complaints data shows that 34,373 new complaints were received about businesses within Bank of Scotland owner Lloyds Banking Group, followed by 12,397 for Barclays and 4,823 for RBS Group.
