Dundee City Council appoints new finance chief

Dundee City Council has appointed Greg Colgan as its new executive director of corporate services.

Currently the council’s head of customer services and IT, he will replace Marjory Stewart who is retiring this summer.

A native of Dundee, Mr Colgan attended St John’s High School and the University of Dundee, before completing his Chartered Institute of Management Accountants qualification with NCR in the city.



He then worked at Servite Housing Association as finance and IT manager before joining the council in 2009 as finance and corporate services manager in the then housing department.

He worked as the head of corporate debt and welfare reform before becoming the head of customer services & IT. This involved four services of customer services and benefit delivery, IT, corporate debt and council advice services.

He said: “I am delighted to be taking up the post of Executive Director of Corporate Services within Dundee City Council and I am looking forward to working closely with councillors and colleagues to deliver on the council’s priorities for the people of this city.”

City council leader Councillor John Alexander added: “This is an excellent appointment as Greg Colgan has a track record of leading innovative changes for the council in challenging circumstances.

“I would also like to thank Marjory Stewart for her commitment and dedication as the Executive Director of Corporate Services.”
