Accounting & finance vacancies up 17 per cent across Scotland

Demand for permanent accounting & finance professionals in Scotland increased by 17 per cent year-on-year in May 2019, according to research from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo).

The data, provided by recruitment software firm, Innovantage, also reveals that the arts, media & design sector performed particularly well, with vacancies rising by 15%. Demand for science & technology professionals was also notable, with growth of 13 per cent. 

Overall, permanent vacancies across all sectors increased by 5 per cent.



Moya Rylands, regional director at APSCo, said: “With Scotland now globally recognised for its innovation, especially within tech, it is no surprise that job opportunities are plentiful here. The financial technology sector is particularly strong, with the number of businesses focused on fintech growing threefold in the last year alone, increasing the demand for professionals.

“It’s also fantastic to see job openings rise in arts, media & design sector as the creative industries play an important part in the region, contributing more than £5 million to the Scottish economy every year. The sector currently comprises of over 15,000 businesses and employs more than 70,000 people, and with this number set to grow in the coming years, opportunities for talent looks set to continue.”
