Law firm Addleshaw Goddard is marking its continued investment in Scotland with the launch of a new Edinburgh hub for its Transaction Services Team (TST).

A direct response to increased client demands and workloads in the firm’s Scotland offices, the TST hub will act as an on the ground resource for the firm’s core divisions regionally, providing strategic access to more efficient ways of resourcing client assignments.

Five paralegals; Kirsty Peters, Fraser Ramsay, Sarah Buzuk, Leo Kritikos and Megan Newrot, have joined the TST Edinburgh team, and will be managed West Middleton, a former legal apprentice who progressed through the Leeds TST before relocating for this new role.

Using a combination of quality people and flexible resourcing, imaginative processes, smart tools and technology, the TST provide a broad range of legal services which include due diligence reviews, routine contract negotiations, litigation and regulatory document reviews and real estate property management work.

The new team will work with existing embedded paralegals in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and the TST plans continue to grow and invest in its Scottish operation.

Across the UK, the firm already employs more than 170 staff within TST, which includes paralegals, apprentices and managers, and demand for the service continues to grow.

Mike Potter, head of TST, at Addleshaw Goddard, said: “Our latest recruitment drive within the TST demonstrates our investment into Scotland. This is an exciting development for our team: as well as providing more on the ground support for our Scottish lawyers and clients, it enables us to access a new deep pool of talent.

“The TST plays an integral role in the firm’s delivery of legal services, and the team has continued to evolve and develop since it was set up 9 years ago. This latest step reflects our ongoing determination to deliver better for clients by being located in the right places and creating an environment which is attractive to the very best people.”

Malcolm McPherson, senior partner for Addleshaw Goddard in Scotland, added: “Our TST is one example of how the firm is evolving to meet the needs of a growing client base in Scotland, and further afield. Clients are enthusiastic about exploring imaginative ways of working that deliver greater value for their legal spend and TST delivers on this.

“To expand the TST team in Edinburgh is part of our wider growth strategy which will see continued investment in the firm across Scotland, be that via recruitment or through smart technology implementation which allows us to work more effectively to provide an improved all-round service.”

Offering a range of alternative career paths including paralegals, apprentices and managers – since its launch nine years ago, the award-winning TST, an integral part of the Firm’s Intelligent Delivery approach – which combines technology, process and people to deliver a customised, seamless and efficient service, has continued to grow generating income of over £11m a year.
