Alexander Sloan wins north east housing association contract

Alexander SloanChartered accountant and business adviser Alexander Sloan, which specialises in the registered social landlord sector, has won a breakthrough tender bid in the North-East of Scotland.

While the firm already acts for more than a quarter of the housing associations in Scotland, its contract with the Langstane Housing Association in Aberdeen is its first major foothold in the north east.

Founded in 1977 as a landlord and a charity to provide homes for single people in need of affordable rented accommodation, Langstane manages more than 2,700 properties throughout Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray, with a head office in King Street, Aberdeen, and an Elgin office which delivers services to tenants and applicants in Moray and North Aberdeenshire.

Kevin Booth, partner at Alexander Sloan whose specialisms include the not-for-profit and social housing sectors, said: “The firm is very pleased to have been invited to act for and advise the Langstane Housing Assiciation, which has a very proud track record of helping people in immediate need.

“This is an important partnership for the firm in an area in which it has previously been under-represented and we look forward to a constructive and rewarding relationship with a very valuable community organisation.”

Alexander Sloan has invested heavily in its relations with the registered social landlord arena, creating a specialist app for the sector as well as topical and widely-read Alexander Sloan Housing Association blogs and Twitter feeds.

Kevin Booth added: “Housing Associations play a vital part in creating inclusion in Scotland and have an intrinsic role in social cohesion.

“Alexander Sloan has taken a particular pride in partnering with organisations in the sector and providing high quality professional advice in order to help them fulfil both their fiscal and societal responsibilities.”
