The Edinburgh branch has donated £1,000 to Radio Forth’s Cash for Kids, while the Glasgow team gave £1,000 to the Peek Project in the east end of the city.

The donation was made through AIB Group’s decision to give each of its local branches £1,000 to support their local communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Allied Irish Bank’s Scotland branches will continue to fundraise for the charity in coming months.

Billy MacLeod, regional director for Scotland, said: “These are extraordinary times and Allied Irish Bank (GB) is proud to support charities that are doing such good work in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Cash for Kids in Edinburgh and the Peek Project in Glasgow do excellent work supporting children, young people and families, especially at the moment, and we wanted to lend a helping hand to our local communities.”

Allied Irish Bank (GB)’s Scotland team is also supporting business customers through the financial pressures of the pandemic.

The bank is an approved lender of the government-backed Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) to provide term loans and is also arranging payment holidays for customers, overdraft extensions, working capital facilities, relaxed covenant terms, loans and overdrafts.

Mr MacLeod continued: “We are proud to be part of the Scottish business community and to support our customers and the local economy as best we can.”

The bank’s Scotland team will continue to fundraise for its nominated charities over coming months.
