And finally… chip off the old block

A significant collection of 400,000-year-old Palaeolithic tools, unearthed in Kent, has sold for more than £41,000 at auction.
The 68 hand axes and other Stone Age implements were discovered by amateur enthusiast David Blake between 1987 and 2013. He found the “unique” artefacts on the beaches and cliffs of Bishopstone, Reculver, and Herne Bay, BBC reports.
The sale, held at The Canterbury Auction Galleries on 1-2 August, saw strong bidding. One notable item, an Acheulean hand axe, fetched £3,000, selling for well above its estimate.
