Two letters penned by the abolitionist William Wilberforce have been sold at auction for nearly £4,000.
The letters, written in 1814 and 1831 sold for £2,200 and £1,700 respectively.
The auction took place on Saturday, at Hawleys in Brough, BBC News reports.
Auctioneer Caroline Hawley said the letters had been “almost impossible to price” and offered “fascinating insights into Wilberforce’s personality and passions”.
