And finally... gilding the lily

Loyal fans of Hollywood star Ana de Armas are suing a film studio for $5 million after renting a film in the mistaken belief that she was in it alongside actress Lily James.

Ms de Armas – who shot to fame with her appearance in Blade Runner 2049, Knives Out and No Time to Die – appeared in the trailer for Yesterday, but her scenes were cut from the final movie.

Disgruntled fans Conor Woulfe and Peter Michael Rosza have launched a class action lawsuit in California, accusing the film studio of “false, misleading and deceptive” behaviours.

The pair claim they each spent $3.99 to rent the film on Amazon after watching the trailer, in which the “talented, successful and famous” Ms de Armas appears for a few seconds, Variety reports.

The lawsuit alleges that Universal Pictures “used Ms de Armas’s fame, radiance and brilliance to promote the film” because she is more famous than stars Himesh Patel and Lily James.
