And finally... Marr-velous

Music fans and collectors are set to get their hands on a piece of rock history after guitarist Johnny Marr announced plans to auction almost 100 guitars from his personal collection.

Among the instruments going under the hammer are the guitar he used on The Smiths’ classic hit This Charming Man and another played on Billie Eilish’s James Bond theme No Time To Die.

The sale also features a prized 1960 Cherry Red Gibson ES-355, gifted to Marr by record executive Seymour Stein in a bid to persuade The Smiths to join Sire Records. The guitar later featured on the band’s iconic track Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now.

Marr said he had decided to part with the collection because he did not want his studio to become “a museum”, preferring the instruments to be played and enjoyed rather than left on display.

The guitars are listed with estimates between £1,000 and £150,000, BBC News reports.

The musicial will donate the hammer price of 10 lots to benefit The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and The National Autistic Society.
