And finally... not kitten around

A rail passenger in France has been slapped with a €110 fine for travelling with a cat who allegedly miaowed too much.

Parisian couple Camille and Pierre have complained to French rail company SNCF over the treatment of her white cat Monet, BFMTV reports.

They say they travelled within the rules, buying a €7 pet ticket for Monet and keeping her in a cat carrier.

But fellow passengers complained to one of the railway’s notoriously strict conductors that Monet was being too loud, leading to the fine.

A spokesperson for SNCF said the conductor had offered to move Camille, Pierre and Monet to another carriage, which they refused.

“This simple solution would have helped to ease tensions between her and the other customers,” they said.

SNCF is nonetheless reviewing Camille’s appeal against the €110 fine.
