A sword that belonged to Napoleon has sold for almost €4.7 million at auction. 

The sword dates to 1802, and was kept by the French emperor throughout his entire reign.

The sword was auctioned by Douot auction house in Paris. 



The sword had originally been estimated to sell for between €700,000 to €1m when it came under the hammer in Paris, France 24 reports.
