And finally… strange lot

An auction of quirky items to help raise money for the restoration of Parnham House in Dorset exceeded expectations by raising double the estimated amount.
The building, which is Grade I listed, was ruined by a fire in a suspected arson attack back in 2017.
Since the fire, the property has been purchased by James Perkins, who co-founded the rave organisation Fantazia, and who stated his intention to restore Parnham to its former glory.
He listed a selection of his possessions at the auction, they included taxidermy animals, designer luggage and vintage furniture, which were included in the auction to raise money for the repairs needed, starting with the replacement of the fire-ravaged roof, Bridport News reports.
The auction, titled The Modern Grand Tour held at Parnham House by Dreweatts Auctioneers was predicted to raise £1.3 million.
However, the total sale value reached £2.2m.
The highly anticipated show-stopping piece, a life-size woolly mammoth, sold for £250,200. It was estimated to sell for between £200,000 and £300,000.
