Prison guards allowed a prisoner who helped them with their taxes to eat Chinese take-away and sit in a guard station after hours.

The alleged secret deal between five guards and their ward in a Florida jail was uncovered by an internal investigation, Kare 11 reports.

Robert Potchen, who is serving a 15-year prison sentence for threatening his wife with a gun but was in the jail to await a hearing for a probation violation, is said to have given the guards advice on taxes, student loans and mortgages.

In exchange, he received food and access to the Internet; according to another prisoner, he also had a romantic relationship with a woman working as a guard.

All of the guards alleged to be involved have since resigned or retired from their posts.
