AquaTerra Group poised to double turnover to £14m

Aberdeenshire-headquartered services provider to the energy sector, AquaTerra Group, has revealed two developments that are expected to double its annual turnover to £14 million.

These advances include the introduction of a bespoke non-destructive testing (NDT) reporting software and the establishment of a new marine and drilling division.

AquaTerra’s customised NDT reporting tool is designed to streamline and enhance the quality management of client inspection reports.

NDT manager and inspection technical authority, Martin Longmuir, said: “Our new reporting tool dramatically reduces the possibility for human error.

“A typical inspection report would normally be provided to clients in a Microsoft Excel format, but our new software is far more practical and efficient, giving clients access to an online web application which displays same day inspection results.

“We are proud to say that the software is currently being utilised successfully on projects in Cyprus and Gran Canaria.”

Until recently, the business largely provided inspection services to production assets in the North Sea, however, the creation of the new marine and drilling division has created opportunities internationally.

It was in August 2021, when Mr Longmuir joined the business to expand AquaTerra’s inspection capability, that plans for the new division and inspection software were built and began to take shape. The marine and drilling division secured its first contract with an independent drilling contractor and in October last year, the division’s director, Frank Hall, was appointed.

Despite AquaTerra’s full service offering being available across various sectors, creating a new business arm for the marine and drilling sectors has generated revenue of £4 million in its first 18 months, which is almost a third of AquaTerra’s total turnover.

Managing director, Stephen Taylor, said: “Like most businesses, our company was impacted hugely as a result of the pandemic, but we are on the way up and I am delighted with how these developments have revitalised AquaTerra.

“Seeing the results of the hard work which was put into building the marine and drilling division and being equipped to provide inspection services internationally is a significant milestone for us and I look forward to what the future holds.”
