Average price of property in Scotland up 5.6 per cent on previous year

The average price of a property in Scotland in April 2018 was £148,952 – an increase of 5.6 per cent on April in the previous year and an increase of 2.5 per cent when compared to the previous month.

The latest publication of the Registers of Scotland‘s monthly UK House Price Index (UK HPI), shows that this compares to a UK average of £226,906, which represented an increase of 3.9 per cent on April in the previous year and an increase of 1.2 per cent when compared to the previous month.

The volume of residential sales in Scotland in February 2018 was 5,288 – a decrease of 9.1 per cent on February 2017. This compares with annual decreases in sales volumes of 15.4 per cent in England and 8.6 per cent in Wales in February 2018, and 12.4 per cent in Northern Ireland in Quarter 1 – 2018.
