Balhousie Holdings’ profits climb above £9.6m

Perth-based Balhousie Holdings Limited has announced a record profit before tax of £9.65 million for the year ending 30 September 2024.
The company’s annual turnover reached £57.2m, a 5.42% increase from the previous year, which the directors attribute primarily to increased fee rates.
In a strategic report accompanying the financial statements, the company highlighted the ongoing difficulties in the care sector. The director’s statement in the firm’s latest Companies House filing noted: “Recruitment and retention of staff remain critical to the delivery of quality care, and the care sector as a whole continues to face challenges attracting and retaining high-quality staff.”
While the use of agency workers and rising staff wages have put pressure on margins, the company reported that measures implemented in the previous year have led to a significant decrease in agency costs.
During the 2024 financial year, the company paid out dividends totalling £8.054m. The average number of employees for the year was 1,474, comprising 1,416 care home staff and 58 in administration and directorial roles.
