Bank of Scotland to close branches and cut back mobile service

Bank of Scotland will close four branches and end its mobile branch services in dozens of towns and villages next year as part of UK-wide cutbacks by Lloyds Banking Group.

The Bank of Scotland branches on Glasgow’s Byres Road, Tarbert’s Harbour Street, Bowmore’s Shore Street and Helensburgh’s Shore Road will close, while 22 Halifax branches and 19 Lloyds branches will close south of the border.

It is not thought that there will be any job losses as a result of the closures.

A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group said: “The way customers choose to bank with us has changed rapidly in recent years, and we now offer a wide range of options for their everyday banking needs.

“This includes our mobile app, online and over the phone. Customers can also bank with us through the post office, in a banking hub, or by speaking to a community banker.”
