Accountancy firm BDO has announced the appointment of a new corporate finance partner in Scotland.

Rory McPherson joins the firm from the Royal Bank of Scotland with effect from this week, BDO said.

He has over 15 years of experience in corporate finance both as an adviser and principal across a range of sectors.

A chartered accountant, Mr McPherson has spent extensive time both in the banking and accountancy sectors and has an impressive deal track record and reputation for building trusted relationships with his clients.

Specialising in M&A, Mr McPherson will join transaction services partner, Craig Martin, in heading up the firm’s market leading corporate finance practice in Scotland. The corporate finance team was recently awarded Deal Transaction Support Team of the Year at the Scottish Business Insider Deals and Dealmakers Awards 2017 and Corporate Finance Team of the Year at the Scottish Accountancy and Finance Awards 2017.

BDO said Mr McPherson’s appointment is a further reflection of its growth ambitions in Scotland and follows on from the recent promotions to partner of Craig Martin and James Paterson in tax on 1 July 2017.

Martin Gill, head of BDO in Scotland, said: “We are delighted to welcome Rory to the partnership in Scotland. Rory’s breadth of expertise, knowledge and ambition will be a great asset to the firm. He will not only complement and enhance our corporate finance team but also help us to build on a number of significant recent client successes and help us to add further value for our clients”.

Mr McPherson added: “I am excited about joining BDO’s corporate finance team. This is a great time to be part of BDO and I am looking forward to developing new opportunities both for our clients and BDO’s business in Scotland.”
