Royal Bank of Scotland has provided Cambuslang-based fitness club, Fit4Less, with a £170,500 funding package to help with start-up costs and to fit out its new premises.

The club and gym, which offers memberships on a no-contract basis, has secured space within South Lanarkshire Council’s 36,000 sq. ft. development, Cambuslang Gate.

Along with a new amenity for the area, Fit4Less Cambuslang has also created new full and part-time jobs for the local community.

The company, which operates under the énergie fitness club brand, will provide an affordable leisure facility for the town and its groups, including students, emergency services and weight loss businesses.

Matt Roberts, director at Fit4Less Cambuslang, said: “The financial support from Royal Bank of Scotland has given us the opportunity to supply a low-cost leisure resource to the area of Cambuslang. The business aims to be accessible to many of the town’s residents which, historically, has struggled with pockets of unemployment and low incomes.

“Fit4Less will also be recruiting full and part-time staff directly from the town, creating more jobs for the area. We are grateful for the continued support and strong relationship we have with Royal Bank of Scotland.”

Mark McQuillan, relationship manager at Royal Bank of Scotland, said: “It’s an exciting time for Fit4Less as it begins its new business journey in Cambuslang. It has been rewarding for us to work with a company that will have such a positive impact on the local community and we wish the team continued success.”
