Edinburgh-based accountancy firm Chiene + Tait (C+T) has announced Nicola Williams as the latest recruit to its Entrepreneurial Tax team.

She joins the firm from Dickson Minto, where she handled a wide range of transactions including a number of Enterprise Investment Schemes (EIS) investments, share schemes and employment-related securities tax issues.

A native of New Zealand, Ms Williams previously worked for the country’s Inland Revenue, managing a variety of cases that involved adjudications, advance assurance and rulings.

She then joined the Auckland-based practice of accountants KPMG.

C+T said she now brings her experience from the three main points on the tax triangle – legal, government and accountancy – the the firm where she will focus on using her in-depth knowledge of key legal issues relevant to the transactions entrepreneurs face.

Neil Norman, a partner at C+T and head of its Entrepreneurial Services said: “Nicola brings a unique ‘bigger picture’ approach to our firm. Whilst we will not offer legal services, her background experience will enhance the service we deliver to clients, helping them better understand how the tax and legal pieces of the jigsaw work together at all stages of running their business.”

Ms Williams said: “I’m delighted to join a great firm like C+T and be part of its highly regarded Entrepreneurial Tax team. I’m now looking forward to working with start-up and scale up business clients to help them maximise their potential and realise their ambitions.”
