Tech specialist firm ClearSky Logic is targeting London and Manchester hub openings over the next twelve months, following rapid growth out of its Edinburgh headquarters and Glasgow satellite office since being founded by Darren Auld and Phil Telfer in Scotland’s capital in 2018.

Having grown headcount to 25 by the end of Q1 this year, the company is planning to add another 10 to 15 people to match client and project activity.

Mr Auld, CEO and co-founder, said: “We are reducing business risk for companies when it comes to implementing tech and software, and with an agile group of highly specialised people in place we liken ourselves to a special ops team.

“Working on a project basis following a thorough preparation phase, we can deliver software much quicker than the competition.”

ClearSky Logic is seeing a surge in clients implementing ChatGPT, is helping businesses reduce carbon emissions around their tech, integrating blockchain technology, and supporting fast-growth companies as they prepare to raise investment from angel and venture capital firms.

Mr Auld added: “We are at the forefront of cutting-edge technology, helping some of the most ambitious companies in the UK scale faster with quality software, designed and delivered from the ground up.”

Siccar, Urocked, and Investment Tribe were among client wins in 2022, joining a client base that includes Gigged.ai, Fresh Car, LendingCrowd, Together Energy, Lettingweb, Mitsubishi, and Biscuit Tin.

Mr Auld continued: “We have seen a shift in the quality of the projects over the last couple of years, and in 2022 the designs, builds, and overall impact has been on a different level.

“Looking forward, we see financial services as a key target sector, and with a number of scale-up companies on our roster, we also see increasing work in this area.”

Commenting on the economic backdrop, technology sector layoffs, and the role tech can play in a recovery, Darren Auld said: “Companies that can adapt to the opportunities tech presents will thrive, whereas the companies that are stuck in their ways and don’t pivot will likely fail.”

Mr Telfer, CTO and co-founder, said: “Essentially, we have two main service lines. Our discovery workshop allows us to meet with the company and run a two to three day session, so we can discuss problems, challenges, and desired outcomes.

“We then deploy our tech team on a project basis to help businesses build, scale, and develop. Sometimes this can be our tech team working separately on a project, or it can be alongside the company’s existing tech team.”

ClearSky Logic strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Paul Duffy as chief growth officer in February. Tino Nombro and Phil Gripton are non-executive directors on the company’s board.
