Close Brothers Asset Management (CBAM) has strengthened its proposition in Scotland with the hire of two new managing directors.

Andrew Mackintosh-Walker and John Henderson join the business in October as managing directors in the high net worth (HNW) team in Scotland. Both will be based in the firm’s Edinburgh office.

The appointments add bespoke investment management capability to Close’s Scotland team for the first time, complementing existing expertise in financial planning and advice.

John Henderson has 30 years’ experience in the investment industry.

He was previously regional director at Rathbones, having opened the firm’s Aberdeen office in 2010.

He founded Albyn Investments in Edinburgh, which was bought by Rathbones in 1998.

Andrew Mackintosh-Walker has over 20 years’ experience in investment management, and was Investment Director and deputy head of Rathbones’ Edinburgh office, joining the company in 2000 from Merrill Lynch Private Client Group.

The appointments are designed to support the ongoing expansion of CBAM’s presence in Scotland. CBAM now employs 65 people in Scotland.

The announcement follows the recent hires of Hugh Adlington and Oliver Harvey who recently joined CBAM’s expanding London West End office.

Martin Andrew, Chief Executive of Close Brothers Asset Management said: “We are committed to growing and strengthening our proposition in Scotland. Hiring individuals of the calibre of John and Andrew is a clear statement of that intent. Both have a superb track record, and their addition to our growing team will help us continue to deliver excellence to our growing client base.”
