Concerns over retirement planning
One in four people have concerns over their retirement planning in the wake of this week’s Budget, a new poll has revealed.
The survey carried out by RBC Brewin Dolphin revealed that long-term saving is an area of real worry, with 25% of respondents wondering what impact they’re going to experience.
Pensions ranked among the top five areas where Britons felt most impacted by Chancellor John Healey’s first Budget, with 19% of people saying they would welcome more guidance on retirement and pensions planning. Other key financial planning concerns included income tax, ISAs and savings, property and inheritance tax.
Around one in five (19%) of the 2064 people polled by Find Out Now said the Budget left them feeling less confident about their own financial plans, with 16% of Brits already reviewing, or planning to review, their financial plans within the next three months.
Daniel Hough, director, wealth manager, RBC Brewin Dolphin said: “Our snap poll shows that the Budget is already prompting consideration, with one in five feeling less confident about their own financial plans, and 16% reviewing or planning to review them in the next three months as a direct result of the changes announced.
“There is a real opportunity for people to use this moment to think about their future financial goals and how saving and investing can help them achieve these.
“There have been over 130 changes to personal finance rules in Budgets over the past decade, with more announced, and what really matters is decoding the cumulative effect and how these changes interact with each other based on your own finances.”
