Crowdfunder Scotland project comes to the Borders

Crowdfunder Scotland project comes to the Borders

A new fundraising opportunity for community groups and businesses has been set up through the Scottish Borders’ European Union-funded LEADER programme.

Working with eight other LEADER areas across Scotland, Scottish Borders LEADER is offering support for community groups and businesses who want to try crowdfunding through the leading platform Crowdfunder UK.

Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising small amounts of money from a large number of people, typically via the internet.

The Scottish Borders now has a dedicated crowdfunding coach who will provide one-to-one and group training and support to create a crowdfunding page. Feedback and advice and coaching on how to crowdfund will be provided free to anyone getting in contact with Crowdfunder Scotland.

Jane Rosegrant, the Scottish Borders LEADER Chair, said: “This is a great opportunity for businesses and community groups to get high quality support for crowdfunding their ideas.

With so many great projects out there, but very tight funding availability across the UK, crowdfunding provides an increasingly important opportunity to support innovation and has grown swiftly over the last few years. We hope to see many Borders businesses and groups take up this offer.”

Crowdfunder has set up a webpage at www.crowdfunder.co.uk/crowdfund-scotland where groups and businesses can register their interest.

There is a £250 bonus towards your crowdfunded project for anyone booking phone contact through the site and anyone who launches a crowdfunding project through the site could also quality for a £1,000 bonus to their project.

Emmi Koivisto, Crowdfunding Scotland Coach for the Borders, said: “I’m thrilled by the positive response and will be delighted to hear about what great projects and ideas the people in the Borders have.”

Crowdfunder said it will be running a number of events across the area over the next year.

These will be advertised through the Crowdfunder Scotland website and The Bridge/BAVS/Scottish Borders Social Enterprise Chamber websites and newsletters.
