The move of the two global brands will bring 145 jobs to the area.

TSSE is the European arm of the Osaka-headquartered Torishima Pump Manufacturing Company, a leading global provider of pumping system installations and aftermarket support services.

TSSE has taken the 2,550 sq m (27,448 sq ft) Unit 201, developed speculatively by Clyde Gateway Developments Limited, on a 15-year lease as its new European headquarters, bringing 50 highly skilled engineering jobs to the area.

Meanwhile, global logistics company DHL Express, has agreed a pre-let for a new Service Centre facility that will be built on Plot 4 at Clyde Gateway East Business Park. The move will see the relocation of their current team, bringing a further 95 jobs to Clyde Gateway.

The 1.94 Hectare (4.79 acres) Plot 4 site has been acquired from Clyde Gateway by Harris Finance, who will develop out the new bespoke distribution and office facility on behalf of DHL Express.

Harris Finance is headquartered in Clyde Gateway and to date has successfully developed and let over 13,935 sq m (150,000 sq ft) of business space within the local area.

The DHL Express Service Centre will offer international delivery and collection services for customers in the region, with local businesses and residents also benefitting from a parcel drop-off and pick-up point. DHL Express plans to move into their new facility by summer 2020, with the move allowing for continued growth to support its customers in the region.

Clyde Gateway East, located adjacent to junction 2A of the M74 motorway, is regarded by property agents as one of the prime industrial locations across central Scotland.

To date, the park has delivered some 10,725 sq m (115,448 sq ft) of development for occupiers including BT, Dentec Scotland, Cusack, Glacier Energy Services Holdings, Greencore Food to Go and now TSSE. Speculative developments currently under construction by Aberdeen Standard Investments will provide a further three units bringing the development total at Clyde Gateway East to 18,117 sq m (195,011 sq ft).

Gerry Ashe, deputy CEO and head of global business at Torishima’s parent company in Osaka, said: “When considering where to establish our new European headquarters, we needed a location with easy access to the motorway network and airports. We previously had a temporary home at Clyde Gateway East, so we knew that the location fitted the bill for our European business. Unit 201 is a high-quality building, and one of the very few industrial properties available in Scotland that meets all our technical requirements.”

Ross Harris, director at Harris Finance, said: “We are really pleased to have secured DHL Express as a tenant for our site at Clyde Gateway East and to have attracted another world-class business to the Clyde Gateway area.  We are working on-site already with the expectation of having the building completed by summer next year.”

Ian Manson, Chief Executive at Clyde Gateway, said: “We are delighted to attract two leading global brands to Clyde Gateway East, confirming its credentials as a leading industrial location. On the back of our site assembly, infrastructure investment and marketing efforts, Clyde Gateway East is one of the few locations where industrial units have been built speculatively in recent years and has been extremely successful in attracting high-quality businesses. It all contributes to the wider transformation of Clyde Gateway, creating new opportunities for local businesses and people.”

Commercial property agents Ryden represented the landlords in both letting transactions.
