Edmund Motley – Investment director at Downing

Investment manager Downing has supported long-term partner Care Concern Group in the acquisition of three newly built elderly care homes in Scotland.

This latest investment marks another milestone in the strong partnership between Downing and Care Concern, aimed at delivering exceptional standards of care for older people across the UK.

The homes, developed by Morrison Community Care Group, have been constructed to an outstanding specification, combining modern design with thoughtful amenities to enhance residents’ quality of life. Each home features a range of premium facilities, including a cinema, private dining room, library, and dedicated hair and beauty salons—creating an environment that prioritises comfort, dignity, and wellbeing.

The three homes will collectively provide 189 ensuite wet room beds, offering both residential and nursing care. These state-of-the-art facilities are designed to meet the growing demand for high-quality elderly care in Scotland, ensuring residents receive personalised support in a safe and welcoming setting.

Edmund Motley, investment director at Downing, said: “We’re delighted to continue supporting Care Concern in its mission to deliver outstanding care. These stunning homes reflect our shared commitment to raising standards in the sector and providing environments where residents can truly thrive.”

David Martin Smith, managing director of Care Concern Group, added: “We are grateful for the continued backing of Downing and the strong working relationship we have built over many years. This acquisition strengthens our ability to offer exceptional care and reinforces our position as a leading provider in the UK.”

The Downing deal team also comprised of Elisabeth Harnden and were supported by TLT LLP.
