Dundee fintech set to hit a quarter billion pound target within weeks

Broker Insights has gown its Dundee-based team three-fold since its founding a year ago

Using data to transform relationships in commercial insurance by connecting leading insurers with regional brokers and “enabling the right conversation at the right time”, the firm has already forged partnerships with major insurance providers such as AXA, Ageas, Ecclesiastical, Hiscox, QBE and Zurich, and is in negotiations to add further collaborators.

Since going live in October last year, over 120 local broker offices from across the UK have also joined the search platform, whose chairman is well-known Dundee tech entrepreneur and former chairman of Entrepreneurial ScotlandChris van der Kuyl.

Broker Insights has also built and launched a new search platform for the commercial insurance industry that provides leading insurers with a way to find more business with local broker offices.

The concept is similar to other search platforms like Auto Trader or Right Move and is currently the only one of its kind in the commercial insurance market.

The company says its success over the last 12 months has led to a tripling in size of its workforce, with eleven of the roles recruited coming from the local talent pool and based in the company’s HQ at Waters EDGE in Dundee’s City Quay.

Roles in software development, data science, customer experience management, senior commercial positions as well as quality assurance/compliance have been filled, along with the recruitment of and graduate account managers.

And bosses say the growth trend is set to continue, with plans to recruit a further five technical and two commercial roles in Dundee by the end of the year, with local talent again the preferred source for new personnel.

The firm’s rise has also been recognised with awards from Scottish EDGE, Royal Bank of Scotland, DELL Technologies and FWB Park Brown for their ‘proven track record of success to date, international growth potential and competent team with the right blend of skills’.

Fraser Edmond, CEO of Broker Insights, said: “My co-founders and I are all originally from the Dundee area, as is our Chairman Chris van der Kuyl. It’s very exciting to be building a business in Dundee that provides opportunities for local people. We are actively recruiting for another software developer and customer experience manager. In doing so we are working to strengthen our ties with local universities and relevant organisations to ensure people in Dundee and the surrounding area know who we are and what we do.”
