Efficiency drive sees JW Filshill profits surge by 23%

Scottish food and drink wholesaler JW Filshill has announced a 22.8% rise in profits to £4.9 million, up from £4m the previous year, navigating what it describes as “highly competitive and challenging” market conditions.
In its 150th anniversary year, the Glasgow-based company maintained a stable turnover of £214m for the year ending 31 January 2025, and its operating profit climb 18.7% to £5.0m. Chief financial and operating officer, Keith Geddes, attributed the strong results to a focus on driving efficiency to offset increasing costs related to fuel, the living wage, and national insurance.
During the year, the group paid out dividends totalling £359,000.
JW Filshill has continued to invest heavily in technology and staff development. The company has upskilled numerous employees to leverage advancements in artificial intelligence and has pushed forward with investments in data analytics and Scope 3 emissions tracking software.

Now in its fifth generation of family ownership, Filshill supplies over 200 Keystore convenience stores and around 1,600 independent retailers across Scotland and the north of England.
