Bolton-based law firm, Keoghs, is to extend its geographic reach into Scotland in April with the opening of a Glasgow office in the heart of the city’s business district.

The new base will initially see four partners join the firm over the next month; two of whom, Stefanie Johnston and Douglas Cowan, are already on board.

The Scotland team will focus exclusively on the needs of insurers and compensators throughout the country, delivering client requirements for a full range of claim types and mirroring the services already provided by the top 100 law firm.

Keoghs’ move into the Scottish market is the latest in a series of expansions in 2017, following the opening of a London office plus moves to bigger premises for growing teams in Southampton and Manchester.

Keoghs chief executive, John Whittle, said:“This is an exciting period for Keoghs as our plans for expansion gather pace. Opening an office in Scotland is a vital strategic element for our long term growth, allowing us to stay at the forefront of legal services for the insurance industry across the UK. We are absolutely delighted to welcome such a talented and experienced team to the firm and look forward to providing Scotland with the market leading service for which Keoghs are renowned.”

New partner, Stefanie Johnston, added: “Joining a firm of Keoghs’ reputation and helping to spearhead a new presence in Scotland presents a truly exciting opportunity. Whilst, to an extent, my initial focus will be on the expansion of Keoghs’ services to the shipping, transport and leisure sectors across the UK, I am looking forward to working with all areas of the organisation to continue the quality of service already provided throughout England and Wales.”

Fellow founding partner of the new Glasgow office, Douglas Cowan, added: “It is tremendously exciting to join Keoghs and the opportunities are great, especially given the diverse experience of all of the partners that will be joining the Glasgow office. I am very confident that we will be able to continue the success that Keoghs has delivered in England and Wales by delivering a seamless, first class service to clients in Scotland. I look forward to working with Keoghs clients in Scotland across the motor and casualty arenas, across all value bands but with particular personal focus on large and complex claims.”
