Ernst & Young has named its 12th new partner in Scotland this year.

Paul Copland joins the firm as an audit partner from big four rival Deloitte where he started his career as a trainee in 1998.

Mr Copland went on to hold a role as an assurance and advisory director with the firm and has worked in sectors including technology, media and telecommunications, transportation, oil and gas and manufacturing.

He will be based at EY’s Edinburgh office.

Mark Harvey, the senior partner for EY Scotland, said: “Paul’s appointment comes at a time of significant expansion and investment for EY in Scotland.”

Just one month ago the firm promoted 10 of its staff in Scotland to partner, and Mr Copland’s appointment means EY now has 33 partners north of the border.
