Digby Brown has begun the process of succession as Fraser Oliver, chief executive of the firm, announces his plan to step down from the role.

The firm has announced that Mark Gibson has been chosen as chief executive designate and will spend the next 12 months shadowing Mr Oliver to expand his understanding and knowledge for what will be the next phase of Digby Brown’s journey.

Under Mr Oliver’s tenure, the firm has achieved strong growth with turnover rising from £20 million to a projected figure of more than £60m for the current financial year. In terms of firm size, staff numbers have grown from 190 to 360.

Mr Oliver said: “Over the last decade we have been able to develop and mature as a business.

“As well as being recognised as leaders in our field, we have become the best-known legal brand in Scotland. Our ability to deliver to our client’s great results and client service have been key to our success.”

Mr Gibson added: “I am incredibly honoured to be elected CEO Designate. I recognise that there is a lot to learn in the coming year and with Fraser’s help I will be in a far better position to guide the firm in the future come April 2027.”
