FRP Advisory promotes Aberdeen restructuring specialist Graham Smith to partner

FRP Advisory has promoted Graham Smith to partner, as part of its plans to strengthen its senior restructuring advisory team in the north east of Scotland.
Mr Smith joined FRP in 2013 and has worked in restructuring advice and formal insolvency appointments in the Aberdeen area since 1998. He supports businesses across Scotland, with experience spanning sectors including leisure, manufacturing, construction, fishing and professional services.
His work includes supporting businesses through periods of financial difficulty and overseeing trading administrations and accelerated M&A processes, alongside solvent liquidations and business reviews for directors, shareholders and lenders.
He worked on the sale of Aberdeen-based commercial cleaning business Contract Solutions (Grampian), to Atlas FM. Graham worked alongside Glasgow-based partner Michelle Elliot as joint administrators, completing a sale that preserved the business and saved 240 jobs.
The pair also oversaw the administration and sale of Moray nursery and tree-growing business Christies (Fochabers) to Alba Trees in February 2026 - a sale that protected all 32 jobs and ensured continuity for customers and suppliers.
Mr Smith’s promotion is one of two new partner appointments within a wider round of 48 promotions across FRP, spanning 16 of FRP’s locations and all six of its service lines. It follows continued investment in the firm’s restructuring practice, which has seen the launch of new offices in Ipswich and Exeter to strengthen its presence across the UK.
Graham Smith, partner at FRP, said: “Having worked with businesses across the North East for almost three decades, I know how much they mean to the people who run them and the communities around them. When a business comes under pressure, the impact is felt well beyond its balance sheet.
“However, so much can be achieved by working closely with management teams and keeping a business trading while a way forward is found. Being based in Aberdeen means we understand the local circumstances, while having colleagues across Scotland and the wider FRP network gives us more expertise to draw on. I look forward to continuing that work as a partner.”
Jeremy French, chief operating officer at FRP, said: “These promotions celebrate colleagues who have earned the trust of their clients and the respect of those they work alongside. Graham brings a deep understanding of the north-east of Scotland, built over many years advising businesses across the region.
“It’s particularly rewarding to welcome someone who has been with FRP since 2013 to the partnership. Graham has helped businesses through some very difficult periods, and I have no doubt he’ll continue to play an integral role as we develop our Aberdeen practice.”
