Gillian Baird takes top commercial role at Persimmon

Gillian Baird has shattered a glass ceiling at Persimmon Homes North Scotland, becoming the housebuilder’s first female commercial director.
The Dunfermline local will lead on all aspects of cost management, procurement, and commercial strategy, overseeing dozens of developments from Alloa to Aberdeenshire.
Gillian first joined Persimmon in 2013 as a quantity surveyor and has progressed rapidly through the ranks, holding positions as senior quantity surveyor, surveying manager, and commercial manager before being promoted to the top commercial role. Her appointment marks a significant milestone for the business and positions her as a trailblazer for other women in construction.
In her new role, Gillian will oversee contractor relationships, material procurement, land viability assessments, and financial forecasting, ensuring Persimmon continues to deliver high-quality, energy-efficient, and affordable homes across North Scotland.
Gillian said: “I’m thrilled to take on this role and to lead the commercial operations of a business that is delivering homes that really make a difference for communities.
