Almost 60 businesses made the final shortlist which was the basis for all the awards, and businesses were judged across 13 categories.

Allied manufactures wheelchair accessible vehicles, minibuses and taxis as well as providing a wide range of automotive after sales and mobility products.

Six companies competed in each of the categories, and Allied won the following: Best Performing Large Business, sponsored by Dell Technologies Scotland; Family Business of the Year, sponsored by Get Living; and the highly prestigious the Royal Bank of Scotland Award for Most Outstanding Business.

Companies from all categories competed for the chance of winning the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Most Outstanding Business which is selected from all entrants to the awards.

Speaking of the awards and the company’s success, Allied’s chairman and CEO Gerry Facenna, said: “It is a huge honour to have won three trophies at the Glasgow Business Awards 2019. Each award means a lot to of us, but winning the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Most Outstanding Business in a field of fantastic and highly impressive businesses is a crowning achievement for Allied so I’d like to thank all of our employees, without whom this couldn’t be possible. I’d also like to thank the Scottish Government through Scottish Enterprise and Glasgow City Council for their incredible support over the years.

“Allied is highly engaged in the Glasgow community, and we hope the awards will attract even more people to us as a business. We want to draw in the very best talent and be one of the best employers in Scotland; we see the Glasgow Business Awards as a vital part of that approach.”

Richard Muir, deputy chief executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said: “A massive congratulations to each of the winners, particularly Allied Vehicles on winning the Most Outstanding Business award, a highly deserved accolade.”
