Accord Tax and Accountancy is merging with Infinity Partnership to create an Aberdeen firm serving more than 1,000 clients.

The new entity will see both companies continue to operate under their own names and pool turnover of £2million.

The joined forces will have a staff of nine which they intend to expand with immediate plans for three new recruits to their tax services team.

Accord, which was established in 2004 and focuses on accountancy and taxation services, will move from its Bon Accord Square premises to Infinity’s Albert Street offices in Aberdeen’s west end as part of the deal.

Infinity has completed more than 50 deals in the mergers and acquisition sectors with a combined value of more than £200m since being established in 2011. The business has clients from Shetland to Southampton and has completed projects in the United States, Australia and the Middle East.

Managing director and founder Simon Cowie, who was named the 2014 Scottish Dealmaker of the Year, said: “The merger is the ideal coming together not only for us but also our clients. The aim is to continue to build a full-service accountancy business; one that continues to deliver first-class proactive support that adds real value to our clients.”

John Atkinson, tax director at Accord, has practised in Aberdeen for 30 years and held a number of positions including tax partner and partner in charge of the Aberdeen office of one of the accountancy majors.

He said: “A key advantage will be our ability to broaden the portfolio of services available to clients.

“Merging with Infinity Partnership creates a huge opportunity for both the business and our clients. We’ve built our reputation on high quality service and this can only be enhanced going forward. I am looking forward to heading up and building the tax team.”

Infinity Partnership has been shortlisted at the 2015 Scottish Accountancy and Finance Awards in the small accountancy firm of the year category. The winner will be announced in Glasgow on June 18.

Infinity Partnership Infinity Partnership is a finalist in the 2015 Scottish Accountancy Awards and has already won three awards this year.
