Hampden & Co appoints new banking director following record financial year

Patrick Preece

Private bank Hampden & Co has appointed Patrick Preece as a banking director at its London office.

Prior to joining the Edinburgh-headquartered bank, Mr Preece was at Investec where he worked in their city professionals team. He has also worked at C. Hoare & Co, where he was a relationship manager in the entrepreneurs’ team, and at Coutts where he started his private banking career.

In his new role, he will offer clients an array of personalised services, including routine banking, deposits, and a variety of tailored borrowing options.

In line with growing client numbers and strong financial performance, Hampden & Co has continued to add to its banking and senior management teams. Recent appointments include Mark Plummer as head of private banking, London and John Glanville, Kevin Eagles and Alistair Macpherson who joined as banking directors.

In its strongest financial year yet, Hampden & Co reported a total income of £23 million for FY2022, a substantial year-on-year increase of 73%. This performance was driven by growth in deposits and increased demand for its lending services, including retirement, interest-only and self-build mortgages, and portfolio lending. The bank also reported an 11% uptick in clients compared to the previous year.

Mr Preece said: “Hampden & Co’s client-centric approach and focus on delivering an exceptional banking experience has helped it to become a major UK private bank.

“I look forward to using my experience and knowledge to deliver for our clients.”

Mr Plummer said: “We are delighted to welcome Patrick to the team. He brings extensive knowledge of private banking and a track record of building trusted relationships with clients.

“His appointment further underscores the bank’s aspirations to grow and to serve the needs of clients in London and the South East.”
