Healthcare experts from Harper Macleod have advised the buyers of a pharmacy business in South Queensferry.

AMDG Pharma Ltd is the new owner of a community pharmacy in South Queensferry, previously operated by Lloyds Pharmacy. The purchase of the business ensures the continuation of vital pharmacy services in the town, dispensing medicines and healthcare advice to the local community.

AMDG Pharma Ltd has been set up by pharmacists Damian Nugent and Dominic Kellock, who come with a strong track record in the sector having owned and managed pharmacies in the west of Scotland. This is the pair’s first venture on the east coast, with plans to invest in the growth and expansion of services in South Queensferry.

Mr Nugent, a director at AMDG Pharma, said: “Working with the existing team in South Queensferry, Dominic and I are looking forward to supporting the local community.

“We’re aiming to invest in the business so that the town can expect a high quality pharmacy service, as well as leading advice.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for us to grow our experience and interests in a sector we’re both passionate about. Pharmacies provide important services to local communities, not just in the dispensing of vital medicines, but as part of a holistic approach to community healthcare by offering one-to-one support.”

Corporate partner Craig Ramsay led Harper Macleod’s healthcare team advising AMDG, which also comprised Aiden Paterson (corporate), Andrew Ronald (banking and finance), Caroline Summers (commercial property) and Scott Milligan (employment).

Mr Ramsay said: “The pharmacy sector in Scotland is changing in that we’re seeing more independent operators expanding their interests, ensuring there’s a real focus on meeting the needs of the local community.

“Dominic and Damian have built up a strong understanding of what their customers need from a local pharmacy, and are planning to strengthen the South Queensferry business to meet those expectations and requirements. I look forward to seeing the business go from strength to strength.”
