The Women in Wellies podcast, which shines a light on the inspiring lives of women working and living in rural Scotland, has teamed up with Henderson Loggie’s landed estates and rural business team.

The new sponsorship agreement marks a milestone for the podcast, supporting its mission to amplify the voices of remarkable women in the rural sector.

Originated in January 2023 by Ayrshire-based business development manager Hannah Lloyd and a rural chartered surveyor in the Highlands, Charlotte Gilfillan, the podcast presents candid stories from women across various rural professions, such as farming, forestry, and veterinary. Their fascinating stories have a growing fanbase among Scotland’s rural community.

Guests on the podcast have so far included:

  • Alison Milne MBE – partner in A Milne & Son farming enterprise, co-founder and director of Crafty Maltsters Ltd;
  • Scottish countryside and wildlife photographer, writer and author Linda Mellor;
  • and Chloe Forbes, a country sports enthusiast living in rural Perthshire with her husband Will and their team of gundogs.

Women in Wellies co-founder Charlotte Gilfillan said: “Securing support from Henderson Loggie’s landed estates and rural business team is a significant achievement for us.

“Women in Wellies grew from our shared love of rural Scotland and passion for inspiring and supporting the next generation. The stories and themes not only resonate with a broad spectrum of listeners but also raise awareness of some important causes and initiatives.”

Henderson Loggie’s landed estates and rural business team, headed by Lucy Crow, specialises in providing tailored tax, accounting, and strategic advice to landowners, farmers, and rural business owners.

Ms Crow said: “Charlotte and Hannah have struck a chord within our community. ‘Women in Wellies’ gives a voice to the women shaping rural business life, in an engaging format which offers inspiration and support to others whose livelihoods are rooted in rural Scotland. We look forward to partnering with them to take Women in Wellies to the next level.”

One of the most popular features on the podcast is a question Hannah and Charlotte ask all their guests – what advice they would give to the next generation of rural women in Scotland. From not being afraid of failure, to the power of a network and knowing your worth, there are very valuable words of wisdom that will provoke and inspire.

Women in Wellies co-founder Hannah Lloyd added: “We have been overwhelmed by the response we have had to the podcast so far and are delighted a national firm like Henderson Loggie wants to support this celebration of stories around the hugely valuable contribution women are making across the rural sector.’’

The sponsorship agreement, initially set for six months, underlines Henderson Loggie’s commitment to supporting and championing the women who play an integral role in Scotland’s rural business landscape. Women in Wellies can be accessed on all major streaming platforms, with episodes released fortnightly.
