ICAS honour makes it a double for Meston Reid & Co trainee

Jenny Robertson

Jenny Robertson, 24, from Aberdeen, has won the Archie Hunter Prize for her performance in the Test of Professional Expertise paper – her final ICAS (the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland) exam before formal qualification as a chartered accountant in August.

She came out on top of 624 chartered accountancy trainees from Scotland and England that sat the exam.

This latest success follows Jenny being named Robert Gordon University Best Final Year Student in Accounting and Finance BA (Hons) in 2016. The former Harlaw Academy pupil gained a first class honours degree.

Mark Brown, audit, accounts and business assurance partner at Meston Reid & Co, said: “We’re delighted Jenny’s sterling efforts have been recognised with the Archie Hunter Prize. It’s an accolade that reflects well on her and also recognises our commitment to supporting our students and developing their careers.”

Jenny said: “I’m very pleased to win this prestigious award. I’m a little surprised as the test was recognised by many as being extremely difficult. I’m delighted my hard work paid off and to receive this honour is beyond my expectations.

“Mark and colleagues at Meston Reid, along with my fellow trainees, have been extremely supportive in the past few years. My career is constantly developing through changes in the accountancy profession and assisting new clients. I find it a rich and varied profession.”

Jenny will be formally admitted and receive the Archie Hunter Prize at the ICAS admission ceremony in Edinburgh next year.
