Insurance, risk management and employee benefits specialist, Jelf, has launched a new Glasgow branch in one of the city’s most prestigious and recognisable city centre buildings.

The Glasgow office, located in the G1 building on the city’s George Square, is Jelf’s biggest trading centre in Scotland. The leading broker has secured almost 32,000 sq ft of space, reflecting its long-term growth ambitions and commitment to Scotland’s largest city.

Around 80 staff are based in the G1 building, including employees from relocated branches on the outskirts of the city and new strategic appointments. The new hires, are central to Jelf’s ambitions to grow its customer base and provide a wider range of services to existing clients.

The move follows the acquisition of Clark Thomson, which was formerly Scotland’s largest independent broker.

Jelf is now pushing forward with plans to build the leading community-based risk advisory business for SMEs in Scotland, with 14 offices across the country. Since increasing its footprint in Scotland, Jelf has secured several significant contracts in the motoring trade, manufacturing, renewables and care sectors.

Scores of Jelf’s clients toured the new Glasgow premises at an official launch event this month. Guests gathered on the 9th floor of the G1 building where they were welcomed by Ben Bailey, managing director of Jelf in Scotland. They also heard from Duncan Wilson, rugby veteran and male cancer campaigner, who spoke movingly about his own brush with the disease.

Ben Bailey, managing director of Jelf in Scotland, said: “We’ve been looking forward to introducing our clients and insurer partners to our new Glasgow premises and the increased range of services we are able to offer.

“Our G1 branch is home to one of the most comprehensive broker teams in the UK including an in-house claims department, specialist risk management advisors and our own employee benefits division.

“With our enhanced scale and resources, deep knowledge of local communities and industry experience we are absolutely committed to becoming the broker of choice across Scotland.”

Across the UK Jelf has almost 3,000 employees serving 250,000 clients from more than 75 branches.
