Insurance broker TL Dallas opens new Edinburgh office

TL DallasInsurance broker TL Dallas Group has announced the continuation of its plans for expansion north of the Border with a move to new offices for its growing Edinburgh team.

The Bradford-based firm, which has been operating in Scotland since 1993 when it established an office in Shetland to build on its long-standing shipping and textiles dealings, said its new office in the capital will be located at 11 Castle Street.

Client director in the east, Tim Mackenzie already heads-up a team of nine in Edinburgh, supported by Alan Grant and Helene Brown, who focus on commercial risks and private client insurance respectively.

Deputy group managing director, Polly Staveley, said: “We are delighted to be moving into our new offices in the heart of Edinburgh, bringing us firmly ‘home’ to the city where our founder, and my great grandfather, Thomas Lessels Dallas OBE started his business career – and in the very street where Castle Cairn was established in 1979.

“With a team of over 30 highly qualified and experienced staff across Scotland, we offer bespoke commercial and private clients insurance and risk management services. We are proud to be investing in our people and increasing numbers in response to a growing demand for the services we offer.”

The move follows TL Dallas’ ‘buy back’ last November of much of the former Castle Cairn business that it had previously sold to Central Insurance in 2011.

The firm, which was founded in 1919, also has offices in Falkirk and Glasgow specialising in credit insurance.

The continued development of the firm’s Scottish business comes on the back of a successful year, having reported a 7 per cent increase in turnover to £7,883,925 (compared to 2014), while group operating profit increased slightly to £1,241,687.

Projected premium placement revenue for 2016 is set to exceed £60,000,000.

The company also opened an office in Belfast at the beginning of 2016. Having previously offered specialist Credit Insurance in Northern Ireland, the outlet is their first full service insurance broking office covering both general commercial and personal insurance in the region.
