Johnston Carmichael Wealth appoints senior planner

Leigh Townsley
Johnston Carmichael Wealth has appointed Leigh Townsley as a Chartered Financial Planner in its Glasgow office.
Ms Townsley brings over 25 years of experience in financial services, including 18 years as a qualified financial planner. In her new role based in Glasgow, she will support Johnston Carmichael Wealth in providing a range of financial planning services, including retirement planning, estate and wealth management and protection.
With experience working with clients across diverse sectors, Ms Townsley has developed specialised expertise in managing complex financial matters.
Her appointment follows a successful career with several leading firms, including NFU Mutual, where she spent over 12 years as a Chartered Financial Adviser, specialising in complex financial planning for rural and agricultural clients. More recently, Ms Townsley worked at another top 100 FT Adviser firm, where she contributed to upholding and delivering the firm’s client proposition and gained valuable experience in independent financial advice.
She said: “I believe in making financial planning approachable and effective. Clients want to feel heard and supported, and my role is to understand their goals and help them make sense of an often complex landscape. It’s about offering expert advice with empathy and integrity and joining Johnston Carmichael Wealth was a natural step.
“The firm’s chartered status, recent award wins, and commitment to excellence made it an easy decision. I’d also heard so much positive feedback from peers across the industry about the culture here, particularly the focus on people, support, and progression. It’s a place where professionals are empowered to grow and I’m excited to contribute to the Wealth team and support new and existing clients.”
Johnston Carmichael’s Wealth division continues to grow, now comprising 15 financial planners and a broader team of more than 60 professionals. Ms Townsley’s appointment is in line with the firm’s strategy to expand its wealth services across Scotland and the UK.
Ms Townsley holds a BA in Financial Services and advanced qualifications in pension planning, taxation, and trusts. She is both a Chartered Financial Planner and a Certified Financial Planner – the highest designations in the profession.
Craig Hendry, managing director of Johnston Carmichael Wealth, said: “Leigh’s technical knowledge, commitment to client care and genuine warmth make her a fantastic addition to our team.
“As we continue to grow our Wealth division across Scotland and the wider UK, individuals like Leigh ensure we maintain the personal, high-quality service Johnston Carmichael Wealth is known for.”
Johnston Carmichael Wealth became part of Partners Wealth Management earlier this year following its acquisition from Johnston Carmichael. As part of the transaction, Johnston Carmichael Wealth will retain its existing team, led by Mr Hendry.
