Legal & General appoints Kirsty Cooper CBE to strengthen board

Legal & General has strengthened its board with the appointment Kirsty Cooper CBE as an independent non-executive director.

Ms Cooper will stand down as a director of Scottish Widows on October 31 before taking her new role as group remuneration and group enterprise transformation committees  from November 1.

She is currently a non-executive director and chair of the risk compliance committee at Aon UK and serving as a non-executive director and chair of the people committee at Scottish Widows.

Ms Cooper’s career has spanned more than 30 years in the insurance and financial services sector and latterly, she was the group general counsel and company secretary, head of the office of the chairman and an executive committee member at Aviva until December 2023.

She is also chair of the FCA’s Listing authority advisory panel, a member of the dormant assets commission and was formerly senior independent director of HM Land Registry and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden Foundation.
