Lomond further expands into Central Belt with Clyde Property deal

Lomond has acquired Clyde Property Group, which includes Burgh Property and Cathedral Estates.

Co-founded in 1987 by Gary Thomson, who remains actively involved and continues to lead the business to this day, Clyde has built a reputation for combining local knowledge with the latest digital marketing techniques.

From a single branch in Bearsden, Mr Thomson and Bill Cullens drew on their new homes experience to fill a noticeable gap in the resale market, where standard new homes practices such as weekend opening, detailed listings with floor plans and professional photography had not yet become the norm. By implementing this approach, Clyde quickly gained market share and expanded rapidly across Scotland.

A key driver of Clyde’s success has been its enduring commitment to innovation. The company continues to enhance its service offering, ensuring clients receive the highest standard of service without compromise. Their mantra has always been “people first, then property,” and this applies equally to clients and valued staff members, many of whom have built decades long careers with the business. This longevity highlights the strength of Clyde’s culture and makes them a natural fit for Lomond.

This acquisition marks a significant milestone in Lomond’s growth strategy, expanding its Scottish footprint, alongside DJ Alexander. Going forward, Clyde Property will oversee operations in the West of Scotland, while DJ Alexander will manage operations across the remainder of the portfolio.

Mr Thomson, managing director of Clyde, said: “Clyde was founded on principles that remain at the heart of our business 39 years later – trust, a forward thinking mindset, and putting people first.

“When considering a partner for the next stage of Clyde’s journey, alignment in values was paramount, and Lomond was the standout choice. This partnership will enable us to thrive, while preserving what makes us Clyde.”

David Alexander, chief revenue officer at Lomond, stated: “Clyde’s passion for pioneering service and building knowledgeable local teams perfectly aligns with Lomond’s core values.

“I’ve long admired Clyde, and this partnership offers an exciting opportunity to expand our presence across Scotland. I’m delighted to welcome Clyde’s talented team and valued clients and I am excited to work alongside Gary.”
