Lynas Foodservice expands Scottish footprint with JB Foods acquisition

Andrew Lynas – Managing director of Lynas Foodservice

Lynas Foodservice has acquired JB Foods, an Edinburgh-based wholesaler, into the Lynas family.

This strategic move unites two third-generation, family-run businesses, blending Lynas’s roots in Coleraine with JB Foods’ 60-year heritage of serving the Scottish catering industry.

The partnership creates a comprehensive network across Scotland by combining Lynas’s established presence in the west with JB Foods’ long-standing base in the east.

Amid the change in ownership, business continuity remains the priority. JB Foods will continue to trade under its own name, and managing director Lee Brown and commercial director Charlotte Brown will remain in their leadership roles. Both companies are already aligned through their shared membership in the Caterforce buying group, ensuring a seamless transition.

Customers and suppliers are assured that day-to-day operations will remain unaffected. Ordering processes, existing agreements, and key contact teams will stay the same.

Andrew Lynas, managing director of Lynas Foodservice, said: “To everyone at JB Foods, a massive welcome to the wider Lynas Family. I’m looking forward to this next chapter and to building an incredible business together in Scotland.”
