New chapter for McGowan Environmental as directors complete buyout deal
Sam Hesling and Kyle McGowan
Aviemore-based environmental engineering services provider McGowan Environmental, has been acquired by its own management team in a buyout that separates the business from energy engineering group BRUSH Group.
The deal was led by Sam Hesling and Kyle McGowan, who become directors of the company following completion, with all 24 members of staff continuing in their roles through the transition.
Speaking about the deal, managing director of BRUSH Group’s infrastructure division, Chris Thomson, said: “We acquired McGowan Environmental as part of a deal to add McGowan Group to our portfolio of businesses – a group of individual companies each with their own specialisms but also complementary skills which together enable us to deliver comprehensive end-to-end engineering solutions.”
He added: “This new deal, which sees McGowan Environmental grow and develop outside of the group, not only ideally positions them to enjoy continued growth, but allows us to focus on McGowan Infrastructure and the award-winning Eco Cable Protect as we continue to exceed client expectations.
“It has been a pleasure to work alongside Sam, Kyle, and the whole Environmental team and we look forward to watching them flourish and continue as leaders in their field.”
Mr Hesling and Mr McGowan, who become directors of McGowan Environmental, said: “We are grateful both for the opportunities BRUSH have provided us and the business over the past 18 months, and for their support in facilitating this deal.
“Working alongside BRUSH colleagues has been a real highlight in the McGowan Environmental journey, with the shared values of safety and quality standing out in particular.
“Delivering environmental restoration and access projects comes naturally to McGowan Environmental. We now look forward to leading our team of dedicated and skilled people and using our skills and experience to continue to serve the environmental sector throughout Scotland and further afield.”
